About the foundation
The Espericueta family established the Speedy Memorial Foundation to honor the memory and legacy of Corporal Joey “Speedy” Espericueta, as he was affectionately known throughout the community. A dedicated police officer with the Mission Police Department, Corporal Espericueta made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on June 20, 2019.
The Foundation was built upon the values of Honor, Integrity, and Service, ensuring that Speedy’s legacy lives on through education, community involvement, and support for the children of law enforcement officers.

Speedy Memorial Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2019 by the Espericueta family in McAllen, Texas to honor Jose Luis “Speedy” Espericueta Jr. The Speedy Memorial Foundation was instituted for funding higher education for children of Law Enforcement Officers.
Scholarship awards begin at $1,000 for scholars.
The numbers of awards are subject to organization funding.
